The Perfect Ciders for a Ploughman’s Lunch
The Perfect Lunch
I love a Shropshire Ploughman’s lunch especially during Summer, but I also love drinking a cider. Let’s be honest though, not all ciders suitable for this type of lunch and can linger on your tastebuds. Are there any ciders out there that I can drink while I enjoy my lunch? There are actually some great ciders from Herefordshire & Somerset that are a perfect for a ploughman’s lunch.
The Ploughman’s lunch, is the English version of Tapas. It’s full of savory and sweet treats including cheese, meat, bread and butter, chutneys and pickles (onion a personal favourite). All the ingredients make the perfect pairing for the subtle yet complex flavors of ciders.
There’s something undeniably seasonal about a Ploughman’s lunch. Just think back to those long Summer days spent in the park, or afternoons you spent with friends in the pub garden or near a Hay field, especially in Shropshire, Herefordshire in July, August. There will have been some tasty eats and drinks involved, particularly on the cider front, since cider pairs so well with cheese.
